KLANG VALLEY: The Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) integrated ticketing system, currently used for Klang Valley’s LRT services, will be extended to the KL Monorail network from tomorrow.
Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) said the system had been on trial since Saturday and had shown good results.
“It gives us confidence to run the AFC system fully beginning Friday. The old system which used the magnetic ticket since its inception will be discontinued,” its group director for rail Khairani Mohamed said.
He said commuters should use the MyRapid Card to avoid queues at the ticket vending machines when using the interchange stations of Hang Tuah and Titiwangsa, currently under renovation.
Khairani said those using single-journey tokens would need to buy another token when they change networks from LRT to Monorail at the two stations.
“But when the station integration works are completed next month, the two stations will be physically integrated and commuters can just switch network without exiting,” he said.
