ALOR SETAR: The Kedah Customs Department scored big just a few days into the new year when they foiled an attempt to smuggle more than RM880,000 worth of illicit cigarettes into the country.
Its director Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdul Latif said the cigarettes were found hidden under polystyrene food containers in a lorry that had just entered the country through the Bukit Kayu Hitam border checkpoint following a tip-off from the public.
