A FARMER who was waiting for his cows to return was shocked to find the herd dead at a palm oil plantation in Segamat the next day. Some 26 cows belonging to Mohd Nor Sarwar, 57, were found on their sides, all sharing same symptoms of distended abdomens and blood around their mouths. He believed his cows were poisoned by envious competitors. “I rode around the plantation and found a lot of blue powder on the ground, which I suspect is a form of pesticide,” he said. Mohd Nor believed his cows died after ingesting the pesticides. He suffered a loss of more than RM80,000 due to this incident. He owns 70 cows and claimed he has never received any complaints from other residents or farmers. He has made a police report. The Segamat Veterinary Services, when contacted, confirmed receiving a report on the deaths. A spokesman revealed that organs from the dead cows have been sent to Muar for analysis.

THE Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) is reportedly in the process of proposing to amend the Land Public Transport Act 2010 to enable it to take action against app providers offering illegal taxi services. According to a source, the commission was in the midst of reviewing the Act before the proposed amendments were sent to the Attorney-General's Chambers for tabling in Parliament. "The Land Public Transport Act only provides enforcement action against unlicensed vehicles but not the mobile apps. It has been difficult for SPAD to combat the illegal operation as a whole," the source said. The source also revealed that SPAD was taking court applications for vehicle forfeiture against the 110 cars seized for offering illegal taxi services.
