> Husband divorces shopaholic wife
A husband has reportedly divorced his shopaholic housewife over the stress caused by her spendthrift behaviour. It is understood that he had called the marriage off two years ago, after his wife, 30-year-old Lina, couldn't control her compulsive shopping habit and spent a lot of money on luxury brands such as Prada, Chanel and Gucci. Lina has said that before their marriage, she was able to satisfy her expensive taste from her monthly salary of RM8,000. However, she had quit the job to become a full-time housewife. She said she thought he could support her based on his income as a contractor. "He had once refused to buy me a RM13,000 bag because he said he couldn't afford it. I locked myself in the toilet because I couldn't accept the harsh reality," Lina said. "My husband has suggested I sekk professional help. But the shopping addiction is difficult to overcome," she confessed. She tried moving back to hometown of Jitra, Kedah, to stay away from luxury boutiques but the plan didn’t work. She said she has since signed up for a counselling programme.
