MACC probes JPJ officer for allegedly giving projects to wife

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating a Road Transport Department (JPJ) director for allegedly giving contracts to his wife. The man, with a Datuk title,  was accused of abuse of power by awarding some RM1mil in projects to a company owned by his wife since three years ago. According to a source, the Datuk did not go through the proper tender process despite his position as one of JPJ's training academy director between 2010 and 2012. It was reported that the projects involved management of events, trainings and consultations, as well as cleaning services for the academy building. Investigation is still ongoing and so far over 20 staff in JPJ have been called for questioning.
