> Cambodian woman sentenced to jail for MyKad fraud
A Cambodian woman was sentenced to six months jail by the Kota Baru Sessions Court, which found her guilty of claiming ownership of a MyKad that didn't belong to her. The accused, 20-year-old Sharifah Zulkifli, pleaded guilty to the offence. She was caught when trying to apply for a change of new MyKad, which belonged to a Malaysian, at the National Registration Department on Sept 6. She was charged under Section 25 of the National Registration Regulations 1990 (Amendment 2007) Act, which carries a maximum of three years’ jail or a fine of not more than RM20,000, or both, if found guilty.
