A 33-year-old man allegedly hacked his grandmother to death because he couldn’t stand her nagging. Halimah Taib, 75, was found lying in a pool of blood by neighbours at her Chendering house in Kuala Terengganu Monday morning. The suspect was seen leaving her house at 9.50am with a parang, which he threw away while on his way to a nearby mosque. Terengganu CID chief Asst Comm Wan Abd Aziz Wan Hamzah, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect was found in a dazed state when arrested. Initial investigations found that the suspect acted in such a way because he could not stand being nagged. Wan Abd Aziz said the suspect, who was also a drug addict, was being remanded for murder.
>Snatch thieves shock victims before robbing them
Snatch thieves are now shocking their victims before they run away with their loot. Penang police found that a 53-year-old woman in Gelugor was given an electric shock by two men on a motorcycle. One of the suspects tapped the victim's shoulder before zapping her with what appeared to look like a torch light, before snatching her handbag. Timur Laut district police chief Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the victim, who was weakened by the electric shock, couldn’t see who the culprits were. She lost RM200 cash, her driving licence, MyKad, ATM cards and a mobile phone. “The victim injured her hand and body in the incident. She is in stable condition now,” he said. Police were on the hunt for the suspects.
