A married woman reportedly began behaving strangely after eating a slice of birthday cake given to her from an ex-boyfriend. It seems that Suzana, 27, ignored her responsibilities as a wife and mother, and went “crazy” (angau) for her ex-boyfriend after eating the cake, the daily said. She was reported to have cheated on her husband and resumed the relationship with her ex, spurning her 32-year-old husband’s advances of intimacy. Suzana’s relationship with her single ex-boyfriend started with conversations via Whatsapp and the two were spotted exiting a hotel after the cake incident by a friend of the husband. Her change in behaviour had caused friction within the household and Suzana reportedly asked for a divorce. However, the husband, Rizal, has brought Suzana to an Islamic medicine practitioner to help resolve the issue.

An unemployed man was jailed 45 days for slapping his mother. Magistrate Saifulakmal Said handed the judgement after the accused pleaded guilty to slapping his mother at their home in Jalan Hang Tuah on Aug 30. According to the facts of the case, the victim had intervened in an argument between the accused and his sister. When the victim asked for an explanation from the accused, he shouted at her and slapped her twice. Section 323 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to two years, fine or both. The accused had asked for a lighter sentence telling the court that he has a two-year-old son to look after.
