> Pupil allegedly beaten by teachers for stealing money
A 10-year-old pupil was allegedly beaten, slapped on his face, and pinched by two teachers from a primary school in Sabak Bernam after he was accused of theft. On July 3, the boy's father had received a phone call from the school, telling him that his son stole money from a teacher. "They (teachers) had asked for permission to bring my son to my mother's house to look for the stolen money. I agreed to this, just to be sure if the money was kept there as alleged," he said. After the teachers had left, the father said he noticed that there were bruises on the boy's face. After questioning, the victim admitted that he was beaten by the two teachers. Selangor Education Department director Zainuren Mohd Nor said the case was being probed by the Sabak Bernam police.
