Local celebrity Maya Karin Roelcke has successfully invested in properties locally and overseas which are now reportedly worth RM8mil. She first started property investment in 2003 with the purchase of a shoplot and apartment using only RM150,000. The award-winning actress and singer nw reportedly owns eight properties, including one in London and two in Malaysia. Her overall assets have already exceeded RM8mil and almost half her annual income comes from rental returns. "One of the reasons I invested in properties is because housing is a necessity and we often read about veteran artists who do not have their own homes. I thought if something happens, at least I have a home for shelter," she told Bisnes Metro.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) raided a hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Sunday night and arrested three individuals for MyKad and passport forgery. The trio were reportedly in the midst of processing a new MyKad for their client, a man from China. Two of the suspects had access to the National Registration Department's MyKad issuance system, while another female suspect is believed to be an agent for foreign workers. The Chinese businessman had purportedly paid close to RM1.3mil for the forged documents. "The syndicate was going through fingerprint verification when they were raided," a source said. It was reported that investigations found that the syndicate could even prepare the MyKad for the client's "parents" to back up the fake identity.
