> Erra Fariza continues to upload pictures of daughter
Malaysian actress Erra Fariza was shocked and upset when she found out that photographs of her six-year-old daughter were being used by a pornographic website. “I don’t know care who are they, their race and religion, but all I have to say is that they are mentally ill,” she said. Nonetheless, Erra said she would continue to share photographs of her daughter on social media. “Even if we upload a photo of a child in tudung, irresponsible individuals would still look at the image differently,” she lamented. It was reported last week that photographs of Malaysian comedian Harith Iskander and his son, as well Erra’s son, were found on a child pornographic website.
> Five children nabbed over illegal donation drives
Five children, aged between 12 and 13 years old, were nabbed in different locations during an operation targeting against an illegal donation drive in Ipoh. The joint operation was conducted by Perak state Islamic Religious Department (JAIPK), state Social Welfare Department and state Islamic Development Department (Jakim). Two girls, both 12, ran and threw their bags filled with donation money to avoid getting caught. The religious authorities managed to get hold of the children in a back alley in Persiaran Sunway City. The other three children were arrested in front of a bank near Greentown Business Centre and Ampang for raising funds without a valid permits. They claimed to be collecting money for their religious school. One of the children was found to have committed the same offence in Batu Gajah last year. JAIPK chief Ahmad Nizan Amiruddin said the modus operandi of the children appeared to be like that if a syndicate. “So far we weren't able to identify whether the children are part of a syndicate exploiting children for monetary gain,” he said, adding that investigations are ongoing.
