> Dolphins spotted off Pulau Sembilan
A group of Chinese and Taiwanese tourists reportedly spotted a school of dolphins off Pulau Sembilan, Perak, last weekend. Perak State Park manager for Pulau Sembilan Iylia Aunuddin said some of the tourists were snorkelling when the dolphins were spotted. She estimated that there are several schools in the surrounding waters, and each consists of five or six dolphins. “The dolphins followed their boat and the tourists felt really lucky and excited to see them,” she said. Rungkup state assemblyman Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya said the last time dolphins were spotted off the island was in 1983. “It shows that the ecosystem in Pulau Sembilan and Bagon Datoh is well preserved,” he said.
