Escaped pet monkey runs amok

An escaped pet monkey ran amok and bit several villagers in Kampung Keluang, Besut, Terengganu. In the 8.30am incident Saturday, villager Lijah Ismail, 85, was bitten in her left hand by the animal as she was sweeping the outside area of her house. She had to receive stitches for the bite as several veins on her palm and wrist were severed. Her son, who witnessed the incident, managed to chase it away. The monkey then bit six-year-old Nurain Syuhada Danial Hanizan on her left hand and both her legs. The Civil Defence Department (JPAM) tried to capture the monkey, but it has so far managed to evade capture.
