> Bangladeshi trafficking victims stripped naked, confined to house
Two Bangladeshi men, believed to be victims of a human trafficking syndicate, were forced to strip naked and restricted in a house in Cyberjaya after refusing to work as cleaners. According to Sepang district police chief Supt Abdul Aziz Ali, both victims landed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 28 as tourists without realising they were in the wrong hands. The suspects took them to an apartment in Cyberjaya where 27 other victims from India and Bangladesh were also kept locked in by the syndicate. All victims were forced to work as cleaners at several companies and hotels in Cyberjaya. One of the victims escaped on Saturday and took a bus from Precinct 7, Putrajaya, to KL Sentral. With help from a Malaysian, he lodged a report at the Sentul police station and authorities raided the place early Sunday.
> Student takes syabu for memory enhancement, becomes addicted
A local university student became addicted to syabu after initially believing the drug helped enhance his memory. "I thought the drug (syabu) was for memory enhancement, but the longer I consumed it, the more I became addicted," said Zaid, sharing his experience in drug abuse. Zaid said he was introduced to the drug by friends and when he first took it, his memory increased and he was able to memorise various theories. However, six months later, he started to notice that he became easily confused, lost weight and changed in attitude. His housemate alerted his parents, who were shocked to see him looking like a different person - unorganised and always speaking to himself. Zaid was sent to the Pondok Inabah rehabilitation centre in August last year and has been responding well to the treatment.
