> Singer, upset that son insulted in social media, lodges police report
Singer Hanifa Md Hanafiah, whose stage name is Black, has lodged a police report against a local university student for insulting his son, Khaleef Dayan, in Instagram recently. The 28-year-old said he was upset the individual had insulted and likened his son to an ape. He decided to take formal action to set a precedent so that other celebrities would not have to go through a similar situation. "After insulting my son, that individual also criticised the child of TV couple Awal Ashaari and Scha Alyahya," the singer lamented. He said he also wanted to teach society a lesson to be careful when making comments in social media.
> Retiree couple scammed
A 74-year-old retiree was cheated of RM18,000 in a scam outside a hypermarket in Ampang, Selangor on Tuesday. He had just finished shopping with his wife when a man who said he was a staff member of the hypermarket, introduced himself as Kenny and requested to see the couple’s receipt as well as their member card. Kenny then told the couple they had won a car and three gold bars but they could only collect the gold bars from a mall in Cheras. The couple did not suspect anything and drove Kenny to the shop. There, a sales staff handed a gold bar worth RM18,000 to the retiree and he also willingly handed over his credit card to Kenny to make payment when the latter asked for it. When they left the shop, Kenny, who was carrying the gold bar, then excused himself to go to the toilet but never returned. After waiting for over an hour, the couple returned to the hypermarket to check and found out they had been scammed.
