> High demand for old spare parts behind car thefts in Kelantan
The high demand for spare parts of old car models such as Proton Wira, Saga and Waja are believed to be the cause of a high number of car thefts in Kelantan. According to state police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim, car thefts increased to 234 cases in the first three months this year as compared to 156 cases over the corresponding period last year. He said police analysis showed that a large number of people in the state drive the mentioned car models. “Most of the spare parts are hard to get and expensive which contribute to the high occurrences of those cars being getting stolen,” DCP Mazlan explained.
