Boy, 14, stops schooling to run family business

While his friends are in school, 14-year-old Muhamad Aimy Shahril Mohamad Zain works full-time running the family business, which he inherited, producing dried seafood in a village in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu. The teenager chose not to continue his studies after completing the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) two years ago. He said he has no regrets as he has a strong interest in business. "Many doubted my capabilities at first, but slowly, they became confident to do business with me," said the boy. Besides delegating tasks to six workers, Muhamad Aimy Shahril is also in charge of dealing with suppliers, overseeing the manufacturing process and sales. He said his goal was to sustain and grow his father's business so his decision to stop school would not be in vain. The youngest of eight siblings also wants to prove that everyone has a chance to succeed despite not being highly educated.
