Nor Mahmudah Ahmad had begged her parents to let her marry Muhamad Wanndy Mohamad Jedi, the 25-year-old Malaysian identified in the Islamic State (IS) beheading video. Her 54-year-old father Ahmad Husin was shocked when told by reporters that his daughter was in Syria, and that he was hoping for her safe return. Ahmad said the couple got married in August last year although they had only known each other for a short while. "The weird part was Mahmudah was desperate to marry him. Initially I did not agree because I did not know him, but eventually I gave in to Mahmudah's insistence," he said. Ahmad also admitted that he does not know his son-in-law well because his daughter never shared details about him. "The last time (we met them), they had asked money for car repair. It is hard to believe that Mahmudah has joined IS because her personality isn't so," said her mother, Saudah Karim.
