A 55-year-old candy seller suffered severe burns after his son-in-law poured hot water and beat him up at their home in Bakri, Johor Baru. It is believed that the incident on Wednesday morning happened due to a quarrel over money. A neighbour said the victim, Mohd Nor Abdullah, was heard screaming for help when he rushed out of his house. However, the neighbour did not dare to come to his aid for fear of being attacked. His relatives, who were notified of the incident, rushed to the scene and sent him to the hospital. Police said the case was being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons.
> Kelantan: Hudud preparation in final stage
The implementation of hudud law in PAS-led Kelantan is said to have entered its final stage of preparation. The state hudud technical committee will meet in December to formulate and forward its recommendations to the state and central government. Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the third meeting would decide on the need to amend Act 355 or Article 76(A) of the Constitution. Furthermore, the question whether hudud would be implemented fully or partially in 2015 depends on the recommendations made by the state technical committee, he said. Mohd Amar also shared that Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom had led a team of delegates to Aceh and Brunei to take a look at the enforcement of hudud there. "It shows that we are on the right track," he said.
