Woman and family lose RM42,000 to get-rich-quick scammers


A 29-year-old woman and her family lost about RM42,000 to an online syndicate after participating in a get-rich-quick scheme. The victim said a couple lured her into participating in the scheme through social media. "They asked me to invest RM100 and not long after, I received RM300 in return. So I increased my investment into RM1,650 and encouraged my family to participate," she said. However, the couple could not be contacted after various family members banked in money. It was then the woman released she had been cheated. A police report has been lodged.
