>Octogenarian has lived without electricity, clean water for 43 years
An 83-year-old man as been living in Bukit Gebuk, Pahang, without electricity and clean water supply for 43 years. Manaf Deraman, together with his grandchild and daughter in-law, perform their daily routines using candles and rainwater. He owns the two-acre plot of land on which his house is built but "does not know how to apply (for the utilities)." The senior citizen, who relies on a RM300 allowance from the Welfare Department, said he had been approached by unknown individuals asking for RM30,000 to do pipe installation for clean water supply.

> Parang-wielding man barges into police station
A 42-year-old man, believed to be mentally unsound, barged in to the Majoi police station in Ipoh, Perak with a 60cm-long parang and threatened a female officer on duty. The Monday evening incident saw the man yelling hysterically, asking for a pistol, while waving his weapon. Several officers tried to advise him as others secured the building’s perimeter. They managed to overcome the man and arrested him.
