Octogenarian lives under a roof of garbage for 30 years

> Octogenarian lives under a roof of garbage
Eighty-year-old Lim Hiong Huat has spent 30 years of his life living under a squatter home made out of rubbish in Tengkera, Malacca. The stench of his dump collection had caused discomfort to nearby residents, who decided to report the poor man's plight to the Welfare Department. He was reported as mentally healthy. Lim, who is fluent in English and Malay, was angry when welfare officers started to clean up his self-made shelter. The authorities would be applying for a 30-day detention order under Section 3(2) of the Destitute Persons Act 1977. Lim is currently housed at the Rumah Seri Kenangan Cheng.

> Town abuzz with ‘herding dog’
The act of a stray dog herding 18 goats has become the talk of the town in Kampung Ulu Ladang, Negri Sembilan. According to the goats’ owner Misemah Mahat, the dog had suddenly appeared in his farm one day in June and had refused to leave despite being chased away. The “herding dog” would lead the goats around the village every day at 2pm and return to the farm at 5pm.
