> Man discovers 'ikan naga' in Sungai Kedah
A fisherman was surprised when he discovered a two-metre long dead arapaima fish in Sungai Kedah when the water receded. The fish is reported to have weighed 80kg. The find resulted in much excitement for the residents of Kampong Tandop Batin as arapaima, commonly known as ikan naga, is not normally found in Sungai Kedah. Arapaima are usually found in the Amazon and Orinoco rivers in South America.
> Three people in Samarahan stung and killed by hornets
A search for attap leaves caused three members of a family from Samarahan, Sarawak to be stung and killed by hornets. It is believed the three had accidentally struck a nest resulting in them being stung. The three victims, including a six-year-old girl, are reported to have suffered 35 to 50 stings each, and died from the poison at Hospital Umum Sarawak on Sunday.
