Singapore radio DJ Low Yong Kian was sentenced to two years jail by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate Court after he was found guilty of molesting a local TV host and her friend at Mandarin Oriental hotel on July 22, 2012. The sentencing has been delayed as Low will be making an appeal to the High Court.

Well-known composer Datuk Ramli MS and singer Noor Hasliah Abu Hassan, popularly known as Alyah, tied the knot recently in Batam, Indonesia.The couple have, however, not registered their marriage here in Malaysia. News of the couple’s marriage came out when the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) decided to investigate their status after receiving complaints about them being frequently seen together at Ramli’s residence in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong.

A man was surprised after a check with the National Registration Department (NRD) showed that he had a child registered under his name without his knowledge. According to the 35-year-old man, his former Indonesian wife, whom he had divorced in 2007, had successfully registered the child in his absence by using a copy of his MyKad and the couple’s previous marriage certificate. The registration was done at the NRD in Kuching, Sarawak, on March 6, 2009 for the child is believed to be the offspring of the Indonesian woman with a European man. NRD director-general Datuk Sulaiman Keling said the child’s citizenship would be revoked if it is found that application was done using falsified information.
