Nora Danish has become the first Malaysian celebrity pass the one million followers mark on photo-sharing site Instagram. “I feel good and surprised, but sometimes it gets tiring too when you need to clarify something (over a photo),” the actress said. Nora added however, that she was not sure if all of her followers were fans. 

> Government urged to review terms for disability aid
A group of parents of children with disabilities (OKU) have urged the Government to review the terms for applying for assistance from the Social Welfare Department. They argue that some of the terms are irrelevant, particularly the requirement that only families with an income of below RM3,000 a month are eligible for assistance. Parent Pazidah Paseril claimed she was denied even an application form from the Social Welfare Department and was turned away because her household income exceeded RM3,000. She said she requires RM1,600 a month for treatment and a special diet for her three-year-old son, who suffers from cerebral palsy.

A clean diet is 101-year-old Siti Taib’s secret to a long and healthy life. The centurion says she avoids consuming greasy food and cold beverages, and claims that “from the time I was young, I only consumed warm water and have never touched ice”. She says she started drinking milk twice a day several years ago, as part of her routine. Siti currently lives alone in Kampung Jijan, Nilai, and is still capable for performing simple house chores.

> Group protests against fast-food chain in Dungun
Some 2,000 people claiming to be members of the “Dungun Youth Club” held a protest in front of fast-food restaurant in Dungun to show their dissatisfaction against Israel’s assault on Palestine. The demonstration was held as the fast-food chain is believed to be associated with Israel. The protestors, aged between 18 and 30 years of age, waved Palestinian flags during the 5pm, Wednesday event. The protest organisers have also called for a boycott of other products associated with Israel. 

> Man hit on head, splashed with boiling water after argument over smartphone
A man was hit on the head and suffered burns from being splashed with boiling water after he accidentally bumped into another man causing the latter’s smartphone to drop on the floor. It appears that the victim, known only as Ho, 29, was leaving a hawker stall in Kepong on Saturday at about 1.30am when he accidentally bumped into the other man. Ho said he refused to pay the man when the latter demand compensation to fix the device. While negotiating with the man, the victim claimed he was suddenly hit on the back of his head with a hard object that caused him to faint. He only realised he had been splashed with boiling water when he woke up in the hospital.
