Penang police have banned a car, decorated with hundreds of brassieres, from hitting the streets. The vehicle was "dressed" by local artist Louise Low Seok Loo, who had planned to drive it around the island between Aug 1 and Aug 10 in conjunction with the Georgetown Festival to promote women’s rights.

Some 60 people have cancelled their memberships in the controversial multi-level marketing scheme YSLM, established by self-proclaimed Chinese millionaire Zhang Jian. According to an employee, people had been showing up at the company’s office in Sri Petaling since Wednesday to terminate their memberships. At a press conference on Wednesday evening, the company announced that members who had failed to introduce new members to the company were entitled to a full refund of RM300 if they quit the scheme. Zhang made headlines recently when billboards appeared in Penang proclaiming him as the “future richest man in the world”.

A 45-year-old man in Alor Gajah is alleged to have passed away on Wednesday after eating roast lamb two days in a row. According to a source, Abdul Kader Joned has consumed the lamb at Hari Raya gatherings of ex-schoolmates. The deceased is reported to have died minutes after arriving at a clinic here to seek medical treatment.
