Worm research ‘hooks’ gold at biotech event


RESEARCH on the early detection of hookworm infection has earned a researcher and his team accolades at the recent BioMalaysia 2012.

Assoc Prof Dr Chua Kek Heng of Universiti Malaya’s (UM) Department of Molecular Medicine, and his team won a gold medal and a special award for Most Promising Innovation with their invention; the Hookworm Navigator — Rapid Detection Assay for Human Hookworm Species.
