THERE is a word in the technology world called vaporware. It means something that was announced a long time ago but with no completion in sight.
For nearly two decades, the most famous vaporware was a sequel to a game that cost millions to make, which more or less bankrupted its original developer. It was in development for almost a generation. I played the game in primary school and when the sequel was eventually released, I had already been working for five years.
