DBKL checking walls in all units of Loke Yew Flats


Put back: Brick walls have replaced the missing wooden panels of the affected units.

A STRUCTURAL expert thinks a “failed connection to the adjoining reinforced concrete beam and column” may be one possible reason why the wooden walls on three units in Loke Yew Flats were ripped off by strong winds during a freak storm on Sunday.

The flats are believed to be the oldest in the city, built in the 1960s.
