MIRI: A Penan woman I met at the children’s ward of the Miri General Hospital a few days ago told me that the price of sugar in her settlement in Long Jikitan in ulu Baram, northern Sarawak, now costs RM5 per kg.

That is twice the price of the same commodity in Miri City.
