SOME 100 stargazers and astronomy fans gathered at Jalan Canselori in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to observe a rare total lunar eclipse.

USM Astronomy Club academic adviser Assoc Prof Dr Chong Hon Yew said the moon was totally eclipsed at 7.04pm and reached its maximum phase at 7.24pm.
