One does not have to feel intimidated by a certain culture because of the inability to read that language, Lion dance instructor Chong Fui Dick can attest to that.

Chong was once labelled a “banana” — the term used by Chinese Malaysians to refer to English-speaking Chinese — and was deemed unable to excel in the art of lion dance.
