WHEN Lim Kian Hock joined the civil service as a junior officer in 1962, little did he knew that he would participate in the historic occasion of the first Malaysia Day and gain first-hand experience in nation building.
At that time, the idea of Malaysia had already been announced by Tunku Abdul Rahman in 1961 and the Cobbold Commission was on the ground to ascertain if the people of Sarawak supported it.
