Exhibition displays Peranakan culture by Taiping-born artist

ipanyonya280814 7... Sherin Ng's A Nyonya Affair art exhibition in the refined, quiet space of Sepaloh Art Centre on Aug 28.

ALTHOUGH Sherin Ng Lay Hwa is not of Peranakan descent, it is easy to think otherwise when one comes face-to-face with her stunningly intricate paintings infused with batik prints and elements from the Baba Nyonya culture.

Boasting an impressive collection of 32 artworks, which took three- and-a-half years to complete, she embarked on an artistic journey of self-discovery when she was 43 with her husband’s encouragement and support.
