THE hit musical SuperMokh The Musical will be restaged after its successful first run in November 2013.

The musical, which saw 17 sold-out performances, is once again being produced by Tall Order Productions and Jugra Publication under the patronage of Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and with the support of the late Mokhtar Dahari’s family.

The Sultan of Selangor will also host a gala night for the musical.

This time, the musical’s two directors — Hans Isaac and Harith Iskandar — said the show would feature new content and additional musical numbers in bringing the Malaysian footballing icon’s life to the stage.

“With the benefit of hindsight, we identified small issues in the musical which we have addressed for the restaging.

“The LED dance sequence for example, has been completely restructured and is much bigger than in the first run,” said Harith.

He said the cast would bring new interpretations to their characters.

According to Hans, there will be additional content as well after further information about the footballer’s life came to light.

“There are three new songs but because we have tightened the production, the length of the performance is almost the same,” said Hans.

“It is pretty much SuperMokh on emotional steroids,” he laughed.

Lead actor Awie hopes to tap into his personal life for his performance of Mokhtar.

“I was a little scared the first time I portrayed him on stage because I was aware of my responsibility to portray such a legendary figure.

“I hope that Mokhtar Dahari fans will watch the show and I hope the younger generation will be inspired by it,” said Awie.

The musical will be staged at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur from Sept 8 to 21, with ticket prices ranging from RM46 to RM236 (for the 8.30pm shows) and RM38 to RM246 for matinee performances (3pm).

Tickets can be purchased at the box office counter, or online via www.ticket2u.biz.
