Feast of gratitude

Blessed meal: Hindu priests blessing the spiced ghee rice at the annual festival of the Kesha Pier Sri Port Muniswarar Temple near Fort Cornwallis.

TOURISTS wandering along the Esplanade and Fort Cornwallis in George Town, Penang, had a pleasant surprise when they encountered a free feast of Indian food at the Kesha Pier Sri Port Muniswarar Temple.

The temple, which held its annual festival on Sunday, prepared a feast large enough to feed 1,000 people and many tourists tucked in despite the mild shower. The menu comprised chicken and mutton curries, french beans stir-fried with tamarind powder and spiced ghee rice.
