Butterfly get promotion ticket to Super League

BUTTERFLY Recreation Club are back in the Super League of the Penang Chinese FA Senior League challenge.

The club, who were relegated last season, registered their fourth straight win in the Premier League to earn the promotion ticket.

Their 1-0 victory over Chew Si SC also put them in an unas- sailable lead to win the league crown with one match to spare as their closest rivals Chinese Wanderers were defeated by Anak Malaysia 3-1 on the adjacent pitch.

The defeat to Anak Malaysia was a big blow to Chinese Wanderers who were out to make up for the disappointment of missing the cut to the Super League action last season.

The setback dented their hopes of accomplishing a pre-season target of promotion to the Super League and had triggered a three-way fight with Bagan United and Anak Malaysia for the remaining promotion ticket.

Chinese Wanderers, who have six points, must win their last preliminary match against Butterfly FC on Wednesday and hope that Bagan United and Anak Malaysia battle to a draw the same day.
