Turning the zodiac on its head

The Tiger's elaborate regalia represents the sign's supposed heroic traits and a bold yet persuasive charm.

THE relationships between 12 mythical animals, and the characteristics they supposedly bestow upon people, are explored in English artist Thomas Powell’s exhibition, The Chinese Zodiac.

The ongoing show at Macalister Mansion in George Town, Penang, features a dozen acrylic on canvas pieces with representational heads of each animal, joined with human bodies that personify their respective traits.
