People caught making homemade firearms to get 20 years in jail if convicted

Interview with Deputy Home Minister, Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar for terror cells and recruitment in Malaysia.

MIRI: The Home Ministry has issued a stern warning — people caught manufacturing homemade firearms can look forward to a maximum of 20 years imprisonment if convicted, and no longer the five-year term for possession of firearms.

Deputy Minister Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (pic) said his ministry had ordered the police to investigate homemade firearms incidents under the more serious category of manufacturing firearms, instead of merely probing these cases as possession of firearms.
