KUCHING: Some 100 booths have been taken up by 80 exhibitors for this year’s Sarawak Builders’ Expo (Sarbex), to be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching next month.
According to organiser Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda), the exhibitors comprise developers, building material manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and home appliance retailers.
In addition, the association has offered complimentary booths to government agencies such as Housing Ministry, as well as to non-governmental bodies like Kuching Austistic Association.
“Sheda is also honoured to announce that Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem will be attending the expo,” it said in a press release yesterday.
On the property market in Sarawak, Sheda said it remained strong, with no evidence of a property bubble developing.
“Supply continues to meet healthy consumer demands, even though the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is expected to change demand trends. There are more options nowadays; in addition to landed property and gated communities, apartments and condominiums are setting the trend for new living lifestyles.”
Sheda said among the highlights at this year’s Sarbex would be “The Royalle” — a 76-unit condominium in Stampin Utara here, which is expected to commence construction next month — and The Rygates III, a proposed 130-unit apartment development nearby. Both are by Lee Onn Construction Sdn Bhd,
Events management company Absolute Cool Event (ACE), has also created an exciting programme line-up to keep visitors informed and entertained over the three days.
“They include talks on crime prevention, fire safety, green technology and feng shui. There will also be a blood donation drive, in collaboration with Sarawak General Hospital, as well as various family activities such as colouring, 3D-model building and cooking contests,” the press statement added.
Sheda has been holding Sarbex annually since 1998. This year, the event will run from Aug 22 to 24.
