NGOs denounce irresponsible tourism activities by tour operators in Bakun

KUCHING: Environmental non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Sarawak and Sabah are up in arms over what they see as irresponsible tourism activities conducted by an online tour operator in Bakun.

In a statement by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Malaysia yesterday, it claimed that the operator’s Facebook page was proudly showing images of hunted animals and rare freshwater fish, which triggered disgusted comments by page visitors on the capturing, killing and selling of wildlife animals openly with a total disregard to the Sarawak Wild Life Ordinance.
