Entity needed to change illegal sand mining into revenue for Perak state

Lost resources: The rampant sand mining activities in Perak has caused the State loses of about RM15mil to RM20mil annually.

THE Government Council (Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan) sub-committee will propose to the Perak Government to set up an entity to look into management of sand mining, curbing illegal activities and turning it into revenue for the state.

Sub-committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said the matter was serious and needs to be addressed as soon as possible before more illegal sand mining activities would cause the state to lose more resources and revenues.
