Consent to inspect premises not needed if public safety is at risk

HEALTH Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the local authorities had the full power to enter project sites that are deemed unsafe to the public, in line with the Local Goverment Act 1976.

Subramaniam, who was responding to StarMetro’s report on June 23, “Unsightly and Dangerous”, which highlighted safety concerns at the long-abandoned Plaza Rakyat project, said Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) did not require consent from the receiver or manager of the project site to enter if the site poses a health hazard.
