History of Muslim Civilisation brought to life at award-winning exhibition

MORE than 60,000 people have visited the award-winning 1001 Inventions exhibition at the National Science Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

The exhibition, which has welcomed more than five million guests on its travels across the globe, will be ending its Kuala Lumpur residency on June 30.

Voted the world’s best touring exhibition by the Museum and Heritage Excellence Awards in London in 2011 and uncovering 1,000 years of science and technology in Muslim Civilisation, the event had already received twice the number of expected visitors since it opened to the Malaysian public in late 2013.

The event productions highlight the achievements made by inspirational men and women from various religions and cultures who worked together in Muslim Civilisation to achieve breakthroughs that helped create the foundations of our modern world.

Organised by Kuala Lumpur-based Science Discoveries Sdn Bhd (SD) in partnership with the National Science Centre, this event in Malaysia features a diverse range of exhibits, interactive displays and dramatisations and shows how modern inventions, spanning fields such as Engineering, Green energy, Mathematics, Medicine and Architecture can trace their roots back to Muslim Civilisation.

SD operations director Oh Seong Keat said: “1001 Inventions is a powerful educational tool that brings the history of Muslim Civilisation to life in high-tech, exciting and engaging ways that will appeal to school children and adults alike.

The exhibition is open daily (except Fridays) from 9am to 5pm and admission is RM20 for adults and RM15 for children. A package price for family is RM60 (2 adults + 2 children). Students (above 17 years with student ID) and senior citizens will be charged RM15 each. Group packages are also available.

The exhibition is scheduled to open in Kuala Terengganu in August for two and half months.

The exhibition is sponsored by Axiata Group Berhad and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Tourism Malaysia, the Ministry of Education and Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry.
