Failure to obtain consent could be a breach of human rights


THE private company behind the controversial Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) must get prior informed consent from the community before announcing the project and failure to do so is a breach of human rights, the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) stated.

Commissioner James Nayagam said it was an international standard of practice for any organisation with projects involving the community to seek prior informed consent.
