FULFIL your dream of becoming a beauty queen by entering the ATV Miss Asia Pageant Malaysia 2014 which is now open for registration.
Organised by Amelia Productions, the finalist and first runner-up will get the chance to represent the country in the Miss Asia Pageant in Hong Kong.
Miss Asia is organised by Asia Television Ltd (ATV) of Hong Kong and was first held in 1985. By 2004, contestants from more than 30 countries were taking part.
The Miss Asia Pageant has a mission of fostering unity and understanding among Asia and the world.
“This is our third year organising this pageant in Malaysia and we hope to bring it to another level,” said Amelia Productions founder Amelia Liew. The company is the franchise holder and organiser of Miss Asia Pageant Malaysia.
Liew, who represented Malaysia in the 2011 Miss Asia Pageant, is also looking for participants from Sabah and Sarawak to join.
“Even if they are unable to be here, we will have Skype auditions,” she said.
Auditions will take place on June 14 and 15 at Best Western Premier Dua Sentral.
Entry is open to non-Muslim Malaysian females from the ages of 18 to 25 years with a minimum height of 165cm.
“A total of 11 candidates will be chosen for the finals on Sept 12,” she said.
The winner and first runner-up will represent Malaysia in Hong Kong at the end of the year.
First runner-up in last year’s Miss Asia, Crystal Koh, 20 will crown the winner.
“My advice to the participants is to just be themselves,” she said, adding they also should have confidence.
Koh confessed that she too once lacked confidence.
“Now I am more sure of myself,” she said.
Also present at the launch to this year’s pageant were Best Western Premier Dua Sentral general manager Ian Hurst and Elken Malaysia’s marketing assistant vice-president Samuel Chan.
Best Western is the event’s main hotel sponsor venue.
“We are pleased to be sponsoring the venue for the third year running,” said Hurst.
“We are not only promoting health and beauty with our products but also confidence,” said Chan.
