THE state government should increase the number of District Native Court magistrates in order to expedite trials and settle land disputes as fast as possible.
Ali Biju (PKR-Krian) said the backlog of native customary rights (NCR) land cases at the District Native Courts was alarming, with about 1,300 filed to date. He also noted that the District Native Courts only had three magistrates, all of whom had served as district officers before.
