Group calls for newspapersto be exempted from GST

THE North Malaya Newspaper Distributors Association has urged the Government to allow newspapers to be exempted from the goods and services tax (GST).

“The newspaper is something that everyone reads daily. So, the government should not burden the consumers with GST,” chairman Tan Keng Tong said in his speech during the association’s annual dinner at the Jade Palace Restaurant in Abu Siti Lane, Penang, on Thursday.
