A TOTAL of 2,641 cases of fires in farms, plantations and forests have been reported throughout the state from January to March, compared to 200 incidents over the same period last year.
State Fire and Rescue Department director Yahaya Madis said that it received an average of 100 calls everyday, most of which were citizens calling in to report cases of open burnings.
