A FEW weeks ago, an old friend of mine passed away from cancer. She was 42 years old. Despite not having been in touch with her for almost 20 years, I found myself saddened by her death. I truly believe the world is a slightly worse place without her.
Her passing on got me thinking about all the people I had met throughout the course of my life who had died from cancer. A family friend in Ireland who had leukaemia, went through a bone marrow transplant and treatment, and eventually died after a decade of battling the disease. He left behind a wife and four children.
